Successes

  1. I did successfully activate with 65 contacts.
  2. I got to hangout with some friends and have POTA fun.
  3. Had a lot of fun with pile ups.
  4. Alaska!!

Challenges

  1. Still wasn’t quite warm enough on the bottom half. Needed to wear better thermals under the jeans.
  2. I didn’t put the pin in the hitch again, but I also didn’t try to move the truck. I’m pretty confident I would have remembered this had I needed to move the truck.
  3. It was cold, and I should have brought a snack.

Reflections

I learned from my mistakes

I learned from at least some of my mistakes from the last trip.

  1. The iPad was fully charged before I left from home.
  2. The battery pack for the iPad was brought with me allowing me to charge while I was activating, and letting me log in my preferred way.
  3. I layered better, and brought enough warmth that the cold did not hurt the experience.

I also was able to use N8XRE’s battery pack and rig. I am looking forward to finishing my build of a much larger portable battery.

Final thoughts

Today was a better activation than my last one. Conditions and weather were good as well, making for my best POTA outing to date.
